This form of School Roll seems to have been introduced as a means of fostering a “House spirit”. The lack of Christian names or even initials, date of entry, date of leaving, age or date of birth makes identification nearly 100 years later very difficult! Family members down the years went into the same House as their older brothers, or fathers and grandfathers; this offers some slight assistance in identifying individuals.

The oldest boys would have been eligible to serve in the Great War and the remainder would have been eligible to serve in the Second World War.
